never

never have i adjusted
to my bodily remains:

my never-beating heart,
my lack of respiration.

the fact that i no longer
sneeze in the presence of cats.

my erstwhile digestion
being expelled the first
time i tried solid food.

how i am now white and cold
when before i was dark and warm.

my constant craving for
steaming liquid and gum.

       (the frigidity of my soul)
